HORI flightstick constant left yaw: a reported PC pad-mode workaround

PC · HORI ACE COMBAT 8 stick · October 3 thread · Thrustmaster NEO symptom also reported; no verified universal HOTAS mapping

YOUR FIRST MOVE

The original HORI poster says PC flight mode produced constant left yaw while pad mode worked. Try that reported alternative after saving your current mode and mappings. It is a temporary configuration comparison, not a confirmed firmware fix or proof the stick is defective.

Compare modes before replacing hardware

PukkaDome Gaming’s original post says the stick was already in PC mode, so “set it to PC” does not explain that case. They describe the persistent yaw after using the right-yaw input in flight mode and say pad mode was the working alternative.

  1. Write down the exact device model, platform switch and current control mode.
  2. Save the current mapping before changing modes.
  3. Try the device’s documented pad-mode option if your model offers it. Do not invent a switch sequence for another model.
  4. Check neutral flight, yaw in each direction and returning to neutral in an easy flight.
  5. Restore the earlier mode if this comparison does not help or makes required controls unusable.

A working neutral state is the useful result. The source does not demonstrate that pad mode preserves every flight-stick feature or solves all button prompts.

Distinguish hardware values from the game symptom

intersectRaven reports a similar issue with the Thrustmaster NEO and says a hardware input test showed normal values. That suggests a game or mapping issue in their case; it is not proof about your stick.

Use your model’s official instructions to check neutral input and calibration. Record whether the yaw input is already off-center outside the game. Do not apply an AC7 input file, unofficial bridge or firmware from a different device based on this thread.

A useful support report

Include model, platform, firmware version if displayed, game build, switch position, control mode, and whether neutral yaw is normal outside the game. Explain exactly which input starts the left yaw and whether pad mode changes it.

A commenter says the manufacturer knows about the issue, but we have not verified an official advisory or repair date. Contact your manufacturer or publisher support with the comparison results. We do not recommend purchasing a different stick as a verified cure. For mouse input instead, use the keyboard pitch alternative.
