No verified YF-23 unlock method appears in the checked launch sources. It is absent from the community playable roster and the publisher catalog. Players report seeing an enemy YF-23, but that does not establish a player-owned version. Do not grind the F-22 branch on the strength of an Ace Combat 7 guide.

What the launch sources show
The community aircraft list separates playable aircraft from other appearances and identifies 32 base-game entries plus Morgan and F-14A content. YF-23 is not a playable entry in that checked list. The publisher’s featured catalog also does not provide a YF-23 player profile.
Neither list should be treated as a guarantee about every future update. Their practical value is that they offer no basis for a current YF-23 purchase route. If you cannot find the aircraft, avoid spending MRP on unrelated upgrades solely to chase a rumored hidden condition.
Why an enemy aircraft is not an unlock
Utplayer01’s Steam discussion asks why an aircraft they can shoot down cannot be flown. Chonkems replies that it is not on the F-22 path this time and hopes for later DLC. That is a player’s wish, not a publisher announcement.
A visible enemy model proves an appearance in that encounter, not a selectable aircraft, a reward flag or a required S rank. A tutorial for another game may use the same aircraft name while describing a different tree. Check the game title and the actual purchase screen before following it.
Choose a verified aircraft goal instead
For high-end campaign unlocks, the FA-36, EA-36 and X-40 guide gives reported completion gates and prices. For current aircraft roles, use the roster. If your missing aircraft is F-14A, check its entitlement and Online mailbox; it has a different access path.
A useful new YF-23 report would show the AC8 version, the aircraft’s purchase or reward screen, its prerequisite and the selection result. Until such a route is demonstrated, an exact unlock requirement would be guesswork.
