SASM is part of successful FA-36 Shadow-fight reports. The Mission 28 Ace S-rank route fires a standard missile to provoke a kulbit, then follows with SASM as the maneuver ends. QAAM and gun successes also exist. Choose a firing window and prepare ammunition rather than assuming any special missile guarantees a hit.

Use the reported follow-up sequence
The checked AfraidKnot Ace S-rank report uses FA-36 with SASM: a standard missile provokes a kulbit, then SASM follows toward the end of the flip. That gives you a concrete timing experiment when repeatedly firing into sharp evasions is wasting ammunition.
- Use an aircraft and SASM loadout you actually own in Campaign.
- Enter the Shadow phase with special ammunition remaining.
- Watch the selected enemy’s movement and fire the standard-missile bait described in the report.
- Switch to SASM and time the follow-up near the end of the maneuver.
- If the opening does not occur, reposition and observe instead of continuously spending special missiles.
No exact activation range, hit probability, flare count or guaranteed bait response was established. The complete Mission 28 guide retains bomber priorities, resupply and the other successful setups.
Prepare parts, ammunition and nearby support
Another checked Steam report uses FA-36/SASM with EA-36 support aircraft, setting the crew to Cover before their special-weapon command so electronic support stays close. Treat that as an attributed squad setup, not proof of a particular ESM multiplier.
Equip owned parts in mission preparation and check the actual special-weapon slots. If ammunition is the bottleneck, use the core mission’s resupply reports. Two weapon selections and separate Campaign/Online progression explain why another player’s ownership or upgrade state may not match yours.
Compare SASM, QAAM and guns for your failed attempt
The October 10 LAAM discussion includes players favoring QAAM or SASM against late-game opponents. It also mixes Campaign and Online guidance claims. Those comments support checking weapon choice and mode, but do not supply controlled damage/range comparisons or a universal best missile.
For Mission 28, successful QAAM and gun routes already appear beside the SASM report. If your current setup repeatedly misses, compare one change at a time: firing window, weapon family or pitch control. For long-range LAAM targeting, use the LAAM guide; do not judge a long-range role solely from a close-range Shadow duel.
This page does not list every SASM-compatible aircraft, rank all parts, establish Online balance or claim a newly verified numeric splash radius. It answers the reported campaign setup and next attempt.
