Emergency Sorties not appearing: mode, waiting & lobby checks

Check the mode first

The official multiplayer FAQ identifies Scramble and Emergency Sortie as random, limited-time missions associated with Co-Op Assault or Co-Op Warfare. Emergency Sortie supports up to eight players against superweapons; Scramble is a different, four-player special mission.

Campaign Mission 28 is not this system. If you are playing the campaign, use the Mission 28 guide instead.

A limited troubleshooting sequence

1. Finish a normal match in the relevant online mode. Look for the special-mission availability afterward rather than assuming a campaign rank unlocks it.
2. Allow for ordinary waiting. The official description says random and limited-time. No reliable waiting duration is established here.
3. Try another lobby if you remain stuck. Steam reply #13 reports switching immediately after starting the game and seeing an Emergency Sortie after three missions. That is one player’s observation; three is not a required count or a repeatable guarantee.
4. Keep connection failures separate. If the game shows ST-3100001, use the server-communication error guide. Not seeing a sortie by itself does not prove a network failure.

If an Emergency Sortie becomes available, the experiment succeeded for that session. If it does not, stop treating repeated lobby changes as a guaranteed method; record your mode, lobby changes and match results for a useful report.

What the reports do not establish

• Spawn probability: unknown. Commenters’ small samples differ and are not a published rate.
• An S-rank prerequisite: unverified. The thread does not establish a requirement.
• Winning versus losing: effect unknown; reports disagree.
• Higher lobby population: a suggestion, not a demonstrated cause.
• Aircraft type or time of day: no verified selection rule in this evidence.

The official FAQ confirms random availability in the relevant modes; it does not confirm the lobby workaround. Avoid spending upgrade currency or chasing a specific rank solely to trigger a sortie.
